Black Bean Hummus

Black Bean Hummus with Pita Chips

Hummus

1 can (14 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
1/3 cup water
2 Tb lemon juice
2 Tb tahini
1-2 cloves garlic
1 tsp onion powder
1/4-1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cumin
dash celery seed

Combine all ingredients in blender or food processor. Whiz until smooth. Serve with crackers or chips.



Pita Chips

1 package whole wheat pita bread

Slice each pita loaf into 8 triangles with a knife or cut with scissors. Separate to single thickness. Pile wedges on a cookie sheet and bake at 125 degrees overnight. These may also be baked one layer at a time at 300 degrees f0r 15-20 minutes or until slightly browned. Store in an airtight container.
